I'm a Homemaker
Today, I want to ask you something—What is a homemaker?
There was a time when I used to call myself “just a housewife.” Until one day, a very ambitious and kind friend told me, “Don’t say that… call yourself a homemaker.” That one sentence stayed with me. Not because it sounded nice, but because it made me feel seen. She helped me realize that learning doesn’t only happen in offices or careers. It happens at home too… every single day. Because being a homemaker is not easy. It’s waking up with responsibilities and going to sleep with unfinished thoughts. It’s solving problems no one even notices. It’s managing emotions, people, routines, and expectations—together.
We don’t just “stay at home”, We build it, We hold it, We fix it—every day.
Even when we rest… our minds don’t. There’s always a next task waiting. A next worry. A next responsibility. And yet… None of this goes on a CV. It looks like a “break” to the world. But in reality, it’s a job without salary, without appreciation, and without a single day off.
No promotions.
No weekends.
No holidays.
Even on vacations… we are still working—taking care of children, family, and everything in between.
Yes, some people say, “It’s your duty.” But duty doesn’t mean it’s easy. And it certainly doesn’t mean it should go unnoticed. So today, I want to say this— I deeply admire women who balance both career and home. But I also bow down to those women who may not step outside to work, yet carry an entire world inside their homes.
They are not “just” anything.
They are everything.
If you’ve ever felt unseen in your role as a homemaker… this is your reminder—
You matter. Your work matters. You are valued.
Have you ever felt the same? Comment your thoughts.
