Hello readers,
Today, I want to share my personal experience about love. Some people may call it duty, while others may call it respect. But have you ever wondered what true love actually is?
My grandmother passed away when I was a child. I do not remember much about her, but I still remember the last days of her life, and somehow those memories feel beautiful to me. Today, when I think about her final days, I realize that all she needed was care, patience, and love. And my mother gave her all of that without any hesitation.
At that time, my mother sacrificed many things for her, yet she never complained or regretted it. She cared for my grandmother with pure love and devotion. Looking back now, I understand that love is not always expressed through words. Sometimes, love is simply staying beside someone when they need you the most.
Today, when I see the elders in my family and especially my husband’s grandmother, I feel the same emotions. She loves me so much. Though she is old now, she still calls me just to hear my voice or see me smile. And honestly, those little moments touch my heart deeply.
I smile, sit with her, and give her as much love as I can because at this stage of life, elders need care and affection just like small children do. I never feel that I am sacrificing anything for her because I happily accept this responsibility, just like I do for my own son. Somewhere, I believe these experiences are making me more patient, caring, and responsible as a person.
This experience taught me what love truly means. Love is not about showing off emotions or expecting something in return. It is simply a feeling that should be shared selflessly with everyone, especially with our elders.
Older people do not always need money, expensive gifts, or big gestures. Most of the time, they only need our presence, our time, and someone who listens to them with love. After giving their whole lives to their families, all they wish for in return is affection and respect.
Take out some time from your busy life and visit your mother, father, grandparents, or any elder in your family who may feel lonely. Sit with them for a while, talk to them, listen to their stories, and make them feel valued. Trust me, even a few minutes of genuine conversation can bring happiness to their hearts.
They spent their entire lives taking care of us, supporting us, and loving us unconditionally. Now, it is our turn to stand beside them and shower them with love and care. Their blessings are priceless. Money can be earned again and again, but the chance to spend time with our loved ones will not come back forever.
My father always says, “If you respect your elders, God will always bless you.” And I truly believe this from the bottom of my heart.
So whenever you get an opportunity to care for your elders, never miss it. These moments are precious and once gone, they never return. The peace and satisfaction you feel after caring for them is something no material thing can ever give.
Please share your experiences with your elders because every story of love and care deserves to be heard.
