Hello, readers!
Long time, no blogs! Yes, I’ve been super busy, but I’ve really missed my favourite thing—writing. I tried to make time for it, but as we all know, work is worship, and our priorities keep changing from time to time.
But today, I feel there is something I really want to discuss and share with you—children and the pressure around their school life.
Most of the readers I know are mothers, so after reading this, I would genuinely love to hear your thoughts. You can personally message me or reach out to me on any social media platform. Let’s discuss this together.
Recently, I had a conversation with a dear friend about children and their school life. Nowadays, parents are extremely busy managing work, their children’s studies, health issues, household responsibilities, and so many other things.
At the same time, schools are giving children a lot of work and projects. Sometimes, I see small children working on projects that remind me of the kind of projects we used to do in college!
I’m not saying that projects and activities are a bad thing. In fact, they can be a wonderful way for children to learn, explore and become creative.
But my question is—how much of it can a child actually do on their own?
Most of the time, children need their parents’ help. And when both the mother and father are working, who is going to help them?
This brings me to the bigger issue: parents are under pressure too.
We are expected to manage everything—our work, our homes, our children’s education, their health, their activities and, of course, their emotional needs. Sometimes, it simply feels like there are not enough hours in a day.
If I talk about myself, I’m not currently working outside the home, but I am a homemaker in a joint family. I have many responsibilities, along with taking care of a child who is growing and changing every day.
There are different moods, different needs and different situations to handle within a family. I’m not perfect, but I always try my best to make things work for everyone.
And sometimes, even after giving our best, we still feel that we are falling short somewhere.
Honestly, I don’t have a perfect solution to this problem yet.
Maybe the solution is not something one person can find. Maybe we need to talk about it together—parents, teachers and schools.
Are we expecting too much from children?
Or are we unknowingly putting too much pressure on parents?
I would really love to know what you think.
If you are a parent, have you ever felt that your child’s schoolwork has become your homework too?
Let’s discuss. Maybe your experience can help another parent who is feeling the same way. ❤️
